Using Artsteps, this is a virtual exhibition that explores the fragmentation, displacement, and potential reunification of selected antiquities from the ancient Mediterranean and ancient West Asia.
By bringing together scattered artifacts, such as the Parthenon Marbles and the Ishtar Gate reliefs, the exhibition invites visitors to consider the impact of colonial-era collecting, museum practices, and ongoing repatriation debates. Through putting together 3D models, archival images, and contextual text, the project aims to provide a new perspective on these objects and their histories.
While this exhibition is a digital approximation rather than a definitive reconstruction, it hopes to encourage discussion about the ways antiquities are collected, displayed, and remembered. reAssembled does not claim to resolve complex debates but rather seeks to offer a thoughtful space for visitors to engage with the challenges of cultural heritage and imagine possibilities for reconnection.
